The Honor View 10, the latest flagship from Huawei’s online-only sub-brand packs in a lot of bang for the buck in a superb aesthetically pleasing way.
Honor has been going strong in the recent years with their exceptional design combined with their performance.

It also comes with the trendy 18:9 Aspect ratio display, dual-cameras which are the must have features in 2018.It’s priced at ₹29,999 which means that it will compete with the OnePlus 5t (at ₹32,999) which has almost same specs.
The View 10 has perfectly managed to hit the sweet-spot price of flagship devices.
So, how does it hold up against the competition?
Spoiler: Very Well.
DESIGN:
The Honor View 10 carries on the look of other premium phones of the last year; it boasts an 18:9 display.
It has the finger-print scanner on the front...which is an amazing achievement as it doesn’t take much real-estate of the bottom chin and manages to look quite sleek (The scanner, despite being narrower than most is blazing fast and accurate.)

The back of the phone provokes mixed feeling to say the least. While Dual-Camera is a must have in 2018, it is very disappointing to see two annoying camera bumps and it would have been nice to see the cameras sat flushed to the back.
The Antenna bands are in the top and bottom with very ergonomically and aesthetically pleasing curved edges which makes it a delight to hold and use with its sandwich rim design.
There is no glass back and therefore no Wireless Charging which again shows of Honor’s cost cutting measures.
The Honor View 10 is amazingly slender at 6.97mm but doesn’t lose out on the headphone jack.
The View 10 certainly feels premium but looks are subjective and while I’m absolutely in love with the phone’s design (especially the Navy Blue variant) some might beg to differ.
CAMERA:
The dual 20MP and 16MP rear cameras are very impressive but not as great as of those more expensive flagships like the Galaxy S8 and Note 8, the Pixel 2s or the iPhone X.

Details and Colour reproduction are very good thanks to its 20MP monochrome lens paired with the 16MP RGB lens. The camera doesn’t over-saturate the photos and the Indoor shots are good too with commendable low-light performance. The dual cameras also allow for decent portrait mode effects.
The Camera doesn’t come with OIS but its EIS is impressive enough to make Videos less jittery.
The View 10 uses the NPU to try and understand subjects in a frame and then use the best possible settings according to its algorithms. The AI Auto-mode is actually pretty good and takes great shots very swiftly.
There's an Artist mode that lets you apply filters before taking shots. According to Honor it takes, “intelligent photography algorithms, the Honor View 10 identifies 13 different types of scenes and objects. It automatically adjusts your camera settings to help you shoot like an expert.”
The AI is genuinely good at object recognition. Point the camera at something, and an icon appears. Tap it, and the phone runs a search of what it thinks is in frame.
It works quite well in identifying landmarks and even specific products like a 13 Reasons Why book. But sometimes it suffers through some glitches and doesn’t work.

The AI also helps you get better selfies with the 13MP front shooter. But the selfies still looks a little washed-out due to its beauty mode.
DISPLAY:
Just like most of all the other flagship devices of 2017-2018, Huawei has given the Honor View 10 a 18:9 aspect ratio IPS panel which boasts a Full-HD resolution much like its competitor, the OnePlus 5T.
The screen, though being an IPS panel, manages to be quite bright in bright sunlight.
Huawei fine tuned the display to project bright and accurate colours and provides saturation that is similar to other flagship’s IPS display.
But the display does show Huawei’s cost cutting measures clearly and lacks the vividness of some OLED panels.
PERFORMANCE:
So, it looks pretty dope and is cheaper than most of flagships.
But How does it perform?

Processor, RAM & storage:
It comes with the latest processor in Huawei’s (in-house designed) arsenal---the Kirin 970 Octa Core processor which has 4 of its cores clocked at 2.36 GHz and the other 4 at 1.8GHz and is a powerful alternative to its rival Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835.
The Kirin 970 comes with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for powering the AI, which Huawei is boasting a lot.
The sheer performance of the Kirin 970 makes a better selling factor than the AI mumbo-jumbo that Honor is utilising in this phone’s marketing.
It comes with 128GB Storage against the industry-norm 64 Gigs and can be further expanded to 256GB with a microSD card in its Hybrid-dual-SIM slot (So, you can’t have both SIMs with the MicroSD.)
For RAM it has a very generous 6GB which obviously makes multi-tasking a breeze.
Honor View 10 scored around 175,262 on Antutu Benchmarks.
Long story short...It performs blazingly fast with even heavy games but the top part of the device was getting mildly warm which is to be expected and is not much of an issue.
OS & UI:
EMUI 8.0 still needs improvements as it is takes a little getting used to with very comprehensive Settings and some Pre-loaded bloatwares and although it doesn’t lag through its function, some users may prefer stock Android Oreo to the EMUI 8.0.
BATTERY:
It is extremely impressive that Honor was able to fit a 3750 MAh battery in this phone in its razor thin body.
Full charge takes around 1.5 hours with 60-70% charge in just 1 hour. Even on Intensive use the phone gets through a day and on moderate use 2 Days is fairly plausible.

Huawei claims that you can use the Honor View 10 for 5.5 hours of gaming, 19 hours of video playback, 160 hours of music playback, 21 hours of 4G browsing, or 23 hours of 3G talk. Its Smart Power Management capability learns from user behaviour to keep you connected even longer.
AI Features:

VERDICT:
The Honor View 10 is worthy of its price-tag ₹29,999 (Although, we must remember that is cheaper than its primary rival, OnePlus 5T because it lacks some features compared to OnePlus 5T.)
The performance, colours and cameras make it a worthwhile daily-driver flagship.
Whatever it lacks in not having OIS, OLED Display and wireless charging, it more than makes up for it with great performance and superb Camera Quality.
